How was the Chicago, il Bulls born? The Bulls' first season was at 1966-1967. The first owner from the Bulls, Dick Klein, named the team in honor of the prolific livestock business in the city. From the 1974-1975 season until the 1983-1984 season, the Bulls only made the playoffs 3 times (1975, 1977, 1981). The deepest they got in the playoffs was in 1975. During that year, the Bulls earned another spot in the Western Conference Finals. However, they lost the series for the Golden State Warriors, after taking a 3-2 lead within the series.
The Jordan-era Bulls that most people are familiar with began in 1984. Following the 1983-1984 period, the Bulls picked Jordan because the 3rd overall NBA selection in the draft. He would replace Reggie Theus, who the Bulls had traded throughout the previous season.
